Nicole<\/a> has a fabulous imagination. In her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gods-amp%253B-Monsters-4-book-series\/dp\/B0B7VPVC8M\">GODS &amp; MONSTERS<\/a> series, she gives us a complex world filled with gods, monsters, and myths\u2014something that could have broken the mold. And yes, from the very beginning, we\u2019re told this will be a 7-book series. How is that decided? Oh, just like that. One day, the author declares, \u201cSeven volumes it is!\u201d As if the characters\u2019 lives were designed from day one to be stretched like chewing gum until the inevitable, exhausting finale.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, a story has to grow organically\u2014with characters evolving, conflicts complicating, and resolving in their own rhythm. Not be forced into a pre-decided number of volumes that makes the pages drag endlessly. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf0c The World &amp; Characters: Huge Potential, Pathetic Execution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dianna, our heroine, sacrifices her mortality for her sister Gabriella and has already lived almost 1,000 years as a slave to protect her. Gabriella, though painted as \u201csweet and caring,\u201d does nothing but nag Dianna to escape Kaden\u2019s control\u2014the man who keeps her chained. At some point, I wanted to shake her and yell, \u201cGirl, your sister literally gave up her life for you. Maybe stop complaining for five minutes?\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dianna becomes an Ig\u2019Morruthen, a bloodthirsty monster with feelings and a conscience\u2014of course, because otherwise the book wouldn\u2019t sell. She\u2019s Kaden\u2019s lover, slave, and best assassin. Meanwhile, Liam (a.k.a. Samkiel, \u201cthe last god,\u201d \u201cthe king of gods,\u201d \u201cworld ender\u201d) is built up as the ultimate cosmic stud with limitless powers, but on the page, he\u2019s\u2026 nothing. A passive cardboard cutout who keeps being hyped but never does anything of value.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2694\ufe0f Yin &amp; Yang? More Like a Tragic Duo of Boredom <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The quest for Azrael\u2019s Book throws Dianna and Liam together in what\u2019s supposed to be an epic clash between light and dark, good and evil. On paper, it sounds brilliant. In reality, it was a rare twist\u2014darkness protecting light\u2014that intrigued me for a moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But then the story drowns in failed literary ambition: Dianna starts off hating Liam, then suddenly\u2014without a shred of credibility\u2014decides he deserves a chance and she\u2019s going to \u201cfix\u201d him. The fierce monster dissolves into a soggy piece of bread, bland and shapeless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd71 All Bark, No Bite<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liam never delivers on his own hype. Dianna is watered down into a spineless doll. Kaden\u2014the supposed embodiment of ultimate evil\u2014is reduced to a childish boogeyman that pops in occasionally to growl before disappearing back into his cardboard box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book is packed with filler\u2014endless pages of internal monologues and emotional rambling that could\u2019ve been condensed into a handful of chapters. I literally threw the book against the wall, took a two-day break, and still don\u2019t understand how anyone thought this story needed seven volumes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\ude08 What I liked?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The universe and concept are brilliant and have enormous potential\u2014the side characters are far more interesting and memorable than the leads.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udee0 What I Didn\u2019t Like<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liam: supposedly \u201cthe last god, king of gods, world ender,\u201d <em>the ultimate man<\/em>, yet he\u2019s basically a walking void. All hype, zero delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dianna: set up as a <em>badass<\/em>, but ends up a limp ragdoll with no backbone or identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kaden: the big bad evil guy, yet nothing more than a paper-thin boogeyman with no real menace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And let\u2019s be honest: the book is <em>way too long<\/em>. Chop off 300 pages of useless padding, and maybe we\u2019d have something solid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I\u2019m left with the same bitter question: How on earth do you decide THIS story should last for seven volumes? Honestly, that feels like reader cruelty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfaf Whimsical Whispers Verdict<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read it for the worldbuilding and the idea\u2014those are worth it. But do yourself a favor: skip the endless introspection and filler. You won\u2019t miss a thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2b50\u2b50\u2b50 3 stars \u2014 for what it could have been, for the gorgeous world, for the dream it offered\u2026 even if it never delivered.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcac Let\u2019s talk feelings, not spoilers!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you read it?
