The first eighteen to twenty years of our lives are a bet on the future. What we do or don’t define what we will or won’t do while living our lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All these years, we learn to breathe, cry, laugh, walk, write, and express ourselves. Year after year, our dreams are growing, evolving, and are getting layers and details becoming wishes. Whishes teach us to have goals. Goals make us search for paths to reach them. Without realizing it, we bet on the future, and the house does not always win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am at a point in my life guided by the mantra: stop and start over! On my way to changing, I had much more free time than during my corporatist life, and I started helping my husband’s cousin with learning English. I was expecting a mouth of fresh air and a straight contact with the teenager today. For every meeting, I came prepared inside to uncover a dream, a wish, to offer support and encouragement. Step by step, all my hops were put to rest. I have discovered a teenager with bits of dreams made in foggy wrong wishes, copied goals, and no path toward them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I want to be like you,” she recently told me. “Like me, how?” I curiously asked “I want to be a wife like you. I want to have a life like yours.” I quietly looked at her for a few seconds before asking her: “Are you willing to do the work to fulfill your wish?” Her answer came out decisive and full of joy: “Yes.” Full of hope, I said smiling: “Well, your first step for today is to learn something new in English.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How much I have hoped, how wrong I was. At the end of our English session, I found out she wanted to study English at the university. But at the same time, every question or explanation was blocked by answers like “I don’t know” or “If I don’t get it, what do you want from me?” I explained to her the grammar part that I had prepared for the day, and I also explained to her the importance of translating as a tool for growing a vocabulary. Within a few minutes, she decided it was too complicated and decisively declared: ” I don’t want to study English at the university for translating. Translating is the job for somebody who went to the university of translation. Imagine my surprise!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My brain uses images, videos, and other manners of explaining things and making correlations. Let’s pretend that is ok \ud83d\ude42 At that point, in my mind appeared a tall man, heavy build, dressed in white as a cook, sporting a mustache and a green scarf around his neck, surrounded by a French man vibe ( bare with me).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am a Chef!” he declared<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Yes, and what exactly are you doing?” I ask<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am a Chef!” he repeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“OK, so you cut vegetables to make into food, right? I ask, looking for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“No, I am Chef, the vegetables are chopped by the one who went to the vegetable chopping university” he is already bothered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
” I understand. Do you put salt in the food?” I ask smiling<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The food is salted by the one who went to the food salting university. I am a Chef!” he angrily answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I see, but please tell me, what exactly is a Chef doing?” I ask sighing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don’t know, I am a Chef!” screams at me Mr …Chef<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At that point, my imaginary movie stopped, and I understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The young present generations want! That is it! You want the top spot without taking the journey there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today’s present is yesterday’s future, for which I have fought, and now I wear my battle scars with pride. Your future is constantly changing as you’re traveling through life. Yes, it is not about the final goal, it is about the journey that makes you and molds you into a winner. If you aren’t willing to have the present’s journey, the future will remain only an unfulfilled wish, a bitter end to a wonderful beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first years of our lives are a bet on the future! There is no option to do it all over again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
